Keys to Strength training ---- VB ADDICTION! 1/2007
|
Key to Strength Training
Frequency
Industry professionals agree that training three to five times per week allows atheletes to get the benefits of training while allowing time for rest and recovery.
Intensity
With regards to strength training, intensity can be measured by the amount of weight involved or the number of repetitions completed. The key is to overload what the body is currently comfortable handling in order to increase strength. Do this by gradually increasing the weight or number of repetitions with time in a manner that challenges the individual athlete.
Time
Strength training is measurable by the number of repetitions and sets completed during the workout. Two to three sets of ten repetitions in generally agreed upon.
Volleyball athletes will want to incorporate other types of training into their regiment to maximize their ability; they are aerobic conditioning, flexibility training and volleyball specific agility training. Be sure to browse our selection of books, DVDs and Videos to get complete information for volleyball training and conditioning.
